Bu aralar çok sık çalıştığımdan uzun zaman sonra gece dışarı çıktım. Hedef bana artık özel üyelik kartı falan çıkarması gereken Babylon. Yellowcard konserindeyiz. Öncesinde Second adlı Türk punk-rock grubu sahne aldı. Şarkıları bende İngilizce şarkıların üzerine Türkçe söz yazılmış hissiyatı yarattı. İnanılmaz bir aşinalık. Araştırma şansı bulamadım ama yılların grubuymuş Second belki o yüzdendir. Seyircilerin coştuğu epey gaz performansları diğer grubun set saati gelmesiyle solistin mikrofonunun kapanası suretiyle yarıda kalsa da bir tatsızlık yaşanmadı. Teşekkür edip indiler sahneden.

Babylon’da ya çok teenage ya da yaşını başını almış abiler ablalar vardı. Sebebi Yellowcard’ın yılların grubu olması ama yaptıkları müziğin daha teenage tayfaya hitap etmesi. Dünyanın en gaz ve karizmatik davulcusu (The Away Days davulcusu Berk’ten sonra tabii :), grubun beyni bir kemancı (keman var diye sound’u Gogol Bordello-vari sanmayın alakası yok, neden keman ben de bilmiyorum) hasta olmasına rağmen hastalıktan değil profesyonellikten ölecek bir solist, Kanadalı grubun genelinin aksine Amerikalı bir gitarcı ve sıradan hiçbir özelliği olmayan bir basçıdan (ay böyle diyince ayıp oldu, efendi basçı, evet efendi basçı diyelim ona da) oluşan Yellowcard konserinin ön saflarında pogolar mı yapılmadı, halaylar mı çekilmedi (halay çekilmedi). Ben de saçımı açtım falan baya zıpladım ettim, weartbeat ekibiyle beraber yeniden 17 yaşımızdaymışçasına coştuk, çok eğlendik. Hep indie-bindie bir yere kadar. Özlemişiz bu punk-rock sound’unu da. İyi ki gittik Yellowcard konserine.

I wasn’t going out much because I’ve been working a lot lately. So after a long time, I headed to Yellowcard concert at Babylon, the venue that should have sent me a special member’s card ages ago. Anyways. Before the Yellowcard concert a Turkish punk-rock band called Second was on stage. Their songs gave me the impression of being Turkish covers of songs in English because I was really familiar with the melodies. I didn’t have the chance to research or anything but i was told that they are an old band so maybe that’s way. The performance was quite good, everyone was screaming and dancing. They didn’t stop until the power of the frontman’s microphone was cut off, they wasn’t angry or anything though. They thanked and got off the stage.

Babylon crowd consisted of teenager and relatively elderly people that night. The reasons is Yellowcard is a well-known band for ages (old enough to be the favourite band of these elderly people when they were teenagers) but their audience is mostly teenagers because of their sound. So the band, consisting of the most charismatic and enthusiastic drummer (after Berk, the drummer of The Away Days of course), a vialonist also the brain of the band (don’t think the band sounds anything like Gogol Bordello, i don’t know why they even play the violin, but they do), a singer / guitar player, who was really ill but very professional, an American guitar player, unlike the rest of the canadian band and an ordinary base player (it’s not very kind of me to make up adjectives for the whole band and not coming up with anything for the base player, so let’s say he’s a very decent and well-mannered base player, yes, a very well-mannered base player) was finally on stage. The front row was really enthusiastic, dancing like crazy, practicing pogo and everything. I, myself let my hair free and danced and jumped. Sweat all over. The weartbeat bloggers and I, we felt like we were 17 again and had a great time at the concert. Indie is ok too, but it’s good to listen to more ‘jumpable’ things every once in a while. We realised how much we missed punk-rock so it was a great concert.
