I received a traveling journal of a six grader from Crown Point, Indiana this week. The Journal has been to Australia, Sweden and Japan before landing on my desk. It’s full of information and love <3 so sweet, educative, creative and inspiring!
My beautiful friend Jenny from Tokyo send it to me to İstanbul, so that I write about my city and myself and pass it over to another friend somewhere else in the world to do the same. I’m thrilled to be a part of this. First I have to send a postcard to Chase. These postcards help the students keep track of the journal. Then after reading what others wrote before me, I’ll fill the pages about myself, about istanbul and Turkey. I can glue pictures, draw, put something in between the pages… Later I have to send it to someone else and I can’t decide to whom I should send the journal. But I guess I’ll send it to Chile or Peru.
In May the journal will travel back to the States, where it began its journey. Chase, the lucky six grader will read about all the countries the journal has traveled. I can’t imagine how exciting it will be for him to read all about these places written especially for him.
What a brilliant idea. Kudos to Chase’s teachers in Wheeler Middle School, Crown Point, IN
